Best Bank Bonuses — August 2026
By Nathaniel Booth · Published August 1, 2026
These are the seven bank and brokerage bonuses I'm prioritizing for August 2026, ranked in the order I'd actually work through them. This month leans business and brokerage: two business checking accounts that don't compete with each other, a brokerage duo you can run in parallel, and one credit union offer with more moving parts than anything else I've covered this year. Start with Current, it takes five minutes. Give yourself extra lead time on Rho (the bigger tiers need a referral lined up in advance) and on the two brokerage bonuses (real capital, tied up for months).

Checking bonus
Current $100 Checking Account Bonus (2026) - Review & Requirements
Why I picked it
Do this one first. It takes five minutes and gives you a direct-deposit tool you'll use again and again. Sign up through the referral link, not the plain public page (that one only pays $75), then route a single real payroll or Social Security deposit of $200 or more within 45 days. Current is picky about what counts: bank transfers, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and mobile check deposits do not qualify, only actual wages or a government payment sent by ACH. The $100 posts in about 10 business days and there's no long hold, so grab it and move on. Keep the account open afterward too. Current's own ACH is one of the more reliable ways to trigger the direct-deposit requirement at other banks.

PNC Bank $400 Checking Account Bonus (2026) - Review & Requirements
Why I picked it
PNC's Virtual Wallet with Performance Select pays $400 for $5,000 in real direct deposits within 60 days, and it now opens online nationwide, no more hunting for a branch in a PNC state. The $25 monthly fee waives once you hit that same $5,000 in balances or deposits, so time your direct deposit switch to cover both at once. One thing to watch: this offer is scheduled to close to new applicants on August 31, so don't sit on it.

Checking bonus
Stanford Federal Credit Union $625 Checking Account Bonus (2026) - Review & Requirements
Why I picked it
This is the one with real homework, but it pays the most of anyone on this list. The $625 breaks into seven pieces: a $500 core (three consecutive months of a real $2,500 payroll or Social Security deposit, plus $1,000 a month of card spend) and six small add-ons worth $125 total. The single biggest trap: every piece has to be activated inside Stanford's CashBack+ system before you do the qualifying work, or you get paid nothing for it, even if you did everything right otherwise. Not in California? Multiple people have been approved out of state using an existing member's referral code, so line one up before you apply.

Business checking bonus
U.S. Bank $400–$1,200 Business Checking Bonus (2026) - Review & Requirements
Why I picked it
If you have an LLC or better, this is the highest single payout in the lineup: $1,200 for depositing $25,000 in new money and holding it every single day for 60 days. I mean every day. U.S. Bank's own FAQ confirms a single dip below the threshold forfeits the whole bonus, not a reduced amount, so fund with real headroom above the line. If $25,000 is more than you want tied up, the same promo code pays $400 on just $5,000 held the same way.
#5
Savings bonus
Rho $350–$1,000 Business Savings Bonus (2.8%–9.8% Effective APY) - 2026 Review
Why I picked it
The headline says up to $1,000, but plan on $350. That's the only tier you can actually walk into. The $500 and $1,000 tiers are referral-only, and Rho doesn't hand out shareable links, so you'd need an existing customer to submit your info by hand well before you'd film this. Also worth knowing before you apply: the reward is a statement credit, not cash, Rho itself is a fintech with your checking balance actually sitting at Webster Bank, and multiple 2026 applicants report needing a working business website (not just a purchased domain) to get through underwriting.

Savings bonus
TradeStation $50–$5,000 Brokerage Bonus - 2026 Review
Why I picked it
The $5,000 headline needs $2,000,000 parked, so ignore it. The tier I'm actually recommending is $250 for a $25,000 deposit held about 9 months (270 days) using code INCTAGGV. It's a taxable brokerage account only, IRAs don't qualify here.
#7
Savings bonus
E*TRADE $50–$10,000 Brokerage Bonus - 2026 Review
Why I picked it
Same story as TradeStation: the $10,000 headline needs $5,000,000, so target the realistic tier instead, $300 for $20,000 held about a year. The nice part is this ladder runs on both a taxable brokerage account (code OFFER26) and an IRA (code RETIRE26), so pick whichever account you actually want to open. One correction if you've read about this elsewhere: Doctor of Credit's own URL calls it a 'referral bonus,' but it isn't one. It's a plain promo code anyone can use.
Got a business — or a side hustle?
Business checking pays the biggest bonuses in banking — no LLC required
As a sole proprietor you can stack $400–$900+ business bonuses — the equivalent of 20%+ APY on FDIC-insured cash.

Every month I look at every active checking and savings bonus in the catalog and shortlist the offers worth most people’s time. I weight three things: bonus value, how simple the direct-deposit requirement is, and how confident I am the offer is still around when you actually go to open the account. Picks that need a giant deposit, weird state restrictions, or look like they’re about to die get cut.
