The reports come from Doctor of Credit comment threads, public Reddit posts, and members who told us what happened to their own deposit. Each one is dated where the person gave a date. Read how we check offers.

Reports are attached to the offer, never to your name. Members can log one from their account instead.

How This Compares to Other Bonuses

Stanford Federal Credit Union's $500 offer is closest in headline value to Bank of America's $500 checking bonus. Compare the direct-deposit requirement, geographic eligibility, fees, approval sensitivity, and payout timing, not only the advertised amount.

Full Requirements

This is the biggest of Stanford FCU's nine CashBack+ new-member offers, and it is the only one with a deposit or spending gate. To earn the $500: open a membership with an Everyday, High Yield or Student Spending account, receive a payroll or Social Security direct deposit of at least $2,500 in EACH of three consecutive calendar months, and spend at least $1,000 a month combined on Stanford FCU debit and credit cards across those same three months. All three months have to be the same three. READ THAT AS CALENDAR MONTHS, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS AND IT IS WHERE PEOPLE LOSE THIS ONE. It is not any three deposits. Three $2,500 deposits landing inside a single month earn nothing, and neither does a run that skips a month, and neither does hitting the deposit in three months while the $1,000 of card spend lands in only two of them. There is no way to get ahead of it by front-loading; the only way through is one qualifying deposit and $1,000 of card spend in each of January, February and March, so to speak. Checks, transfers, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal do not count as the direct deposit. Every offer lives inside CashBack+ in Digital Banking and has to be ACTIVATED there before you do the work; anything done before activating, or after the eligibility period ends, does not count. Your eligibility period runs from the day your membership is enrolled through the end of the third full calendar month, so 90 to 120 days depending on when in the month you join. IF THIS ONE IS OUT OF REACH, THE OTHERS ARE NOT: Stanford lists $125 more across eight smaller offers that have nothing to do with your paycheck, and the credit union states plainly that each offer is earned independently. Those are separate entries here so they stay on your plan even when this one does not.

OUT-OF-STATE IS ELIGIBLE with a member referral code, backed by multiple approved out-of-state datapoints (2026-07-20: 'approved as an out-of-state applicant'; 2026-06-09 OOS instant approval; 2026-07-21 instant approval on a friend's code). Without a referral, membership runs through the CA field of membership (Stanford affiliation, or FOPAL/MOAH association). Was previously coded CA-only, which hid the offer from every non-CA user. PULLS CHEXSYSTEMS, and small CUs tolerate churners poorly, with denials reported at high inquiry counts. One bonus per member (lifetime).
