Eligibility
Only for people who have never held an Interactive Brokers account, and you have to apply using the instructions in an existing client's referral invitation. The reward is not cash. You are granted $1 worth of Interactive Brokers Class A common stock for every $300 you deposit, counted on your net deposits over the year that follows your first deposit, and the most anyone can be awarded is $1,000 of stock, which takes $300,000 in net deposits to reach. Withdrawals during that year claw shares back at the same $1 per $300 rate. Each award of shares is locked for one year from the day it is granted, so you cannot sell or move them before then, and if you close the account before that date the unvested shares are forfeited. Interactive Brokers can still sell those shares to cover a margin call. Financial advisors, hedge funds, introducing brokers and proprietary trading firms are excluded, as are tax-advantaged accounts, and so are residents of mainland China, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Denmark, Israel and Poland.
