Chase is the strictest major issuer on who it will approve, and the limit counts cards from every bank, not just its own.
The 5/24 ruleChase usually declines you if you have opened five or more personal cards from any bank in the past 24 months.

Chase has never published this rule, but it has held since 2015 and still holds in 2026. The count covers personal cards from every issuer, not only Chase, and it includes cards where you are just an authorized user, because those show on your credit report. Store cards count only if they can be used elsewhere, so a branded Visa or Mastercard counts and a closed-loop store card does not. Auto loans, mortgages and applications that were denied do not count.

One bonus per Sapphire card, for lifepersonal cardsEach Sapphire card pays its welcome bonus once per lifetime, and holding one no longer blocks the bonus on the other.

This replaced the old 48-month Sapphire family rule on January 22, 2026. Until then any Sapphire bonus in the previous 48 months blocked a new one, and Preferred and Reserve were treated as a single family. The terms on each card page now say only that the card is unavailable if you already have that same one open, and that the bonus may not be available if you previously held that card or already received its bonus. Chase adds that it may also consider how many cards you have opened and closed.

Roughly two cards per 30 daysUnconfirmedChase tends to approve about two personal cards, or about one business card, in any rolling 30 days.

This is a community pattern rather than a Chase rule, and the data points behind it are not consistent. The usual guidance is at most two new personal Chase cards in a rolling 30-day window, and roughly one business card in that same window, with a personal and a business application close together sometimes counting against each other. Some people report being made to wait longer than 30 days. Use it for spacing applications, not as a promise.

Overview

The Disney is currently offering $150 after $500 in purchases within 3 months. There's no annual fee, which makes the $150 bonus close to pure profit if you can hit the spend organically. Estimated net year-one value: $150 — the bonus is cash back, valued at face.

Pros

+$150 sign-up bonus
+$0 annual fee

Cons

-Subject to Chase 5/24 — counts against your personal card velocity

Notes

To hit the $500 requirement in 3 months, you need about $167 per month in organic spend on this card. Route any predictable monthly bills you'd otherwise pay from a debit card — utilities, groceries, gas, streaming subscriptions — through the Disney until you've earned the $150 bonus. Mind your issuer rules: Chase will deny this if you've opened 5+ personal cards in the last 24 months. Track the SUB cycle in Stacks OS so you can downgrade or cancel before the next AF posts if the card stops earning its keep.

How This Compares

Within Chase's personal lineup, the closest comparison is the Chase Amazon Prime Visa ($200 after $0/0mo, $0 AF). The Disney is the right pick when you value a clean no-AF SUB and don't need the elevated category bonuses of the fee-bearing card.
