There is no online application for this account. The only way in is to book an appointment with a KeyBank banker and open it with them, so you need to be able to reach one of KeyBank's branches. The states listed are where those branches are. KeyBank's terms for this business offer set no residency rule and exclude no state, so if you can get to a branch you can open it.

Balances from personal checking, savings, money market, IRA and CD accounts count toward the tier as long as they are titled to the same primary account holder, but business, HSA, investment, minor and private banking balances do not. You are not eligible if you received a new personal checking bonus in the last 24 months or have had an Associated Bank checking account in the last 12 months. One per customer, primary owner must be 18 or older, and a valid email address is required. The bonus arrives within 120 days of account opening and the account has to stay open 12 months or the bank can take the money back at closing.

Targeted: KeyBank's terms say you must have received a personalized $500 Business Banking offer letter from them, and you open by appointment with a banker rather than online. Schedule that appointment by December 18, 2026. Make the $25 minimum opening deposit and get to $5,000 or more within 30 days, then keep a minimum daily balance of $5,000 or more for the first 90 days; if the balance dips below $5,000 even once in that window you lose the bonus. The $500 is paid within 60 days of meeting the requirements. You cannot have held a KeyBank business checking or savings account in the past 12 months, and the branch network covers AK, CO, CT, ID, IN, MA, ME, MI, NY, OH, OR, PA, UT, VT and WA. Open Basic Business Checking, which is $5 a month waived at a $1,000 average ledger balance so the $5,000 hold covers it; do not open Key Business Reward Checking, which is $25 a month and needs $7,500 to waive.

Citizens offers personal checking in 14 states plus DC: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington DC. The offer terms themselves name no excluded states. You must not have been a signer on another Citizens personal checking or savings account in the previous six months, and the account has to be opened through the link on the offer page rather than in a branch.
